Moved Off of Github
Just a quick check-in. Been doing a lot of "digital hippie" things. Joined Mastodon, hanging out in the Lobste.rs IRC a lot, getting my blog posts delivered by (news)boat, and now I've moved (or deleted) all of my repos off of Github. Where'd they go? To my own forgejo instance hosted on the same linode instance that hosts everything else. I'm waiting for the day I stop renting to look into localI'm not sure "local" is the proper way to distinguish it, but I think even if you're using a VPS it's still a form of self-hosting, just not heart and soul. self-hosting.
I still need my Github for work and it's not terrible to at least have the foothold. I'll probably update my user README to point to my projects on forgejo. Plus there might still be other projects on Github I'm interested in contributing to some day. Also need to update my personal site to not point to Github anymore either. Kind of want to make a whole more involved projects page, but probably the list of repos on forgejo is good enough. We'll see.
Anyway, feels pretty good, kind of feels like paying off debt in a way. Weight off my shoulders, I own my shit, at least a little more than I did before.
I also added a Gallery page for any drawings I feel like sharing. Looking forward to continuing to fill it up!
